Foster Grandparent Program
Building Brighter Futures Through Intergenerational Connections
The Foster Grandparent Program connects older adults with children in need of extra support through tutoring and mentorship. These intergenerational relationships enrich classrooms and lives across 16 counties in Central Minnesota.
Our volunteers partner with schools, early education programs, after-school programs, and other non-profit organizations that serve youth. In 2025, 160 Foster Grandparent volunteers dedicated their time and talents to support children across Central Minnesota. Together, they served an incredible 73,403 hours at 92 volunteer sites. Their efforts reached 8,400 children, including 891 identified as having special or exceptional needs.

"Together, we help children grow academically and socially. Helping kids with reading or math gives me real joy... I love their smiles and knowing I’m making a small difference.”
